The Christian Sharing Center is well known to our donors and constituents as a trustworthy nonprofit..
Since 1986, The Christian Sharing Center has worked to prevent homelessness by helping children & families with critical needs during financial emergencies caused by job loss and health problems. The Sharing Center operates food pantries and casework offices in Longwood and in Sanford, where we strive to give people not only food and other tangible aid, but a warm welcome that lets them know they have friends during their struggle.
The Sharing Center is a non-profit 501(c)(3) faith-based agency that welcomes the support of businesses, congregations, civic groups, social groups, scout troops and schools, as well as caring individuals who work together to help our neighbors in need. Our own fund-raisers include our Thrift Store, a fall Walk-a-Thon, spring Golf Classic, and our Good Samaritan Society.
How We Help
We are the only agency in Seminole County with a MedNet Navigator and Health Navigator on staff to assist children & adults in need of life-saving medications or a physician's care. A Disabilities Caseworker helps disabled adults to gain therapy and skills to be employed again or to find appopriate housing to accommodate their disabilities.
The Sharing Center is purchasing the 37,804 sq. ft. plaza it occupies in Longwood as a permanent home and endowment for future needs of Seminole County’s working poor. The plaza is being transformed into a one-stop non-profit hub where people find help with a variety of needs in one location as The Sharing Center adds additional services and welcomes other non-profits to the plaza.
The Sharing Center also operates a satellite site for food distribution and casework services in Sanford to better address the high need for services in the northeast section of the county. Assistance provided at both the Longwood and Sanford offices is offered free of charge. Assistance may include food, clothing, help with costs of basic needs for rent/mortgage, transportation, bus tokens, costs of prescriptions and other medical issues, utilities, household goods, and other items specific to individual needs.
