The only facility of its kind located in Seminole County, The Sharing Center Oasis gives homeless and precariously housed families an ability to retain their dignity in their struggle to get back to stability, safety and self-sufficiency.
Opened in October of 2011, the Oasis offers shower and laundry facilities. A barber chair was donated so that volunteer hair stylists can give free haircuts. There are computers where kids can do schoolwork & adults can job search.
What a difference the Oasis makes! ‘Marcia’ can tell you first-hand: Jobless and homeless after having “worked since I was 15 years old,” she sighed softly after her shower & shampoo, saying “This goes a long way to help you feel normal when you’re in a situation that’s not normal.”
The Oasis is open Mon., Tue., Wed. & Fri. for Volunteers. Volunteers are needed to help at the Oasis in the areas of client reception, doing laundry, or cleaning. Send an email now to our Coordinator of Volunteers.
